Inspired for Change Contest - Celebrating Black History
At INDY elementary, we strive to ensure that the stories, voices, and experiences of Black and African American people are centered, honored, and uplifted in our school curricula every day. We also acknowledge the importance, relevance and origins of Black History Month and it's purpose of ensuring that we are all aware of the continued struggle for freedom and equal opportunity. We use this month as a time to celebrate the many achievements of African Americans in every field from science and the arts to politics and religion.
In your child's classroom, they'll be doing a number of activities this month to do just this, and we'll also be holding a full-school activity:

Students will have the entire month of February to work on their projects and have the opportunity to win prizes.
