Celebrating Our 2025 Employees of the Year 🎉

Posted Date: 02/25/26 (01:24 PM)

Dear INDY Families,

I’m thrilled to share some wonderful news and celebrate the incredible people who make our school such a special place every day.

  • 🏆 Certificated Employee of the Year
    • Matt Croghan – Our phenomenal PE teacher whose creativity, energy, and dedication have impacted generations of students.
  • 🏆 Classified Employees of the Year
    • Robert Matoza (Day Custodian)
    • Nancy Law (Administrative Assistant)
    • Both Rob and Nancy are absolute rock stars in our community. With the support of HR and MOT, we were able to recognize both of them this year—a reflection of just how exceptional their contributions are.
I also want to name that not receiving the title does not mean someone isn’t exceptional. We are incredibly fortunate to work in a school full of dedicated, talented, and caring professionals.

Matt, Rob, and Nancy will be honored at the CVUSD Awards Ceremony in May.

What’s Next?

All site-level Employees of the Year are currently being considered for district and county recognition, including:
  • 1 CVUSD nominee for Alameda County Teacher of the Year
  • 1 Elementary Masonic Certificated Employee of the Year
  • Up to 9 Classified Employees (one per job family) as CVUSD nominees for Alameda County Classified Employee of the Year
Please join me in congratulating Matt, Rob, and Nancy—and in celebrating all of our staff who show up every day for kids and families. INDY truly shines because of them.

Best,
PHS
